Ultra High Index Material

Thinnest Lenses Available

If your prescription is extremely high, you may want to consider an ultra high index material instead of Phoenix. Although it doesn’t have the impact resistance of Phoenix, in very high powers it can be made thinner (in low and moderate powers, the difference in thickness is insignificant). The “index of refraction” is what gives a material the ability to bend light so that it focusses at the right point. The higher the index of refraction, the less curvature is needed to focus light, and the thinner the lens can be. So if edge thickness or center thickness is a concern for you, ask for the 1.71 index material, available at Parmer Eye Care.

Anti-Reflective Lenses

Did you ever look at someone’s glasses and think, “Are there actually lenses in those glasses?” They probably had an anti-reflective (AR) coating on their lenses.

Lenses with AR coats become practically invisible, allowing a clearer view through the lens. This is especially valuable when working at a computer or driving at night.

Anti-reflective coatings are an area where manufacturing technology has greatly improved the patient’s experience over the past few years. Several years ago, anti-reflective lenses were difficult to keep clean and tended to scratch easily, or even flake off. Changes in the way the coatings are applied to the lenses have drastically improved their durability and ease of cleaning.

The “Vista 2” anti-reflective lenses offered by Parmer Eye Care now have at least a two year unlimited warranty against scratches. That means if you do get a scratch, bring them back and we will replace the lens free of charge.

Progressive Addition Lenses (a.k.a. No-line Bifocals)

With improved designs on Progressive Addition Lenses (PAL’s), many people who were at one time unable to adapt to no-line bifocals are now able to wear them comfortably.

The “latest and greatest” is the Hoya Wide PAL. The Hoya Wide, as it implies, makes your life easier by allowing your eyes the freedom to move. If you’re a progressive lens wearer you know the limitations in outdated progressives.

With our featured top of the line progressive lens, the Hoya Wide, we can help make your life that much better.

Computer Lenses

Did you ever try to run a mile in your best dressed shoes?

Can you imagine Tiger Woods playing golf in bowling shoes?

Concentrated computer users are like intense athletes. While athletes are specific to their footwear computer users often need specific lenses for their computer.

One of the best options for extensive computer users is the Desktop lens. The Desktop is a modified progressive lens intended specifically for computer users. It is designed to be used at the unique viewing angles and distances associated with computer terminals. This allows for a more comfortable day at the computer.

There are other options the Doctor may suggest once your specific needs are identified.
